Welcome to the Churchill Art Studio!

Visual art is a part of our everyday life, from our clothing to our furniture to our homes to the ads we see. We have been interpreting visual art since we were born and used drawings to communicate before we wrote words. Humankind has been using visual communication since cave paintings.

This is why our Churchill student-artists learn how to use the creative process in their art and how it translates to other aspects of their life. The Churchill visual art curriculum is aligned to the Illinois Fine Arts Standards:

CREATING
  • Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work
  • Organize and develop artistic ideas and work
  • Revise, refine, and complete artistic work

PRESENTING
  • Select, analyze, and interpret artistic work for presentation.
  • Develop and refine artistic techniques and work for presentation.
  • Convey meaning through the presentation of artistic work.

RESPONDING
  • Perceive and analyze artistic work.
  • Construct meaningful interpretations of artistic work.
  • Apply criteria to evaluate artistic work

CONNECTING
  • Synthesize and relate knowledge and personal experiences to make art.
  • Relate artistic ideas and works with societal, cultural, and historical context to deepen understanding.
