Welcome to our 4th grade family! My name is Chris Kovarik, and I am your teacher for this exciting school year. My teaching journey goes like this...

I grew up in California and Nevada, worked in the hotel industry for 7 years, and graduated from UNLV with a business degree. Seeking something new and meaningful, I worked as a substitute in grades K-6 for 2 years, fell in love with teaching, and decided to return to college for a master’s degree in elementary education. After graduation, I finally earned my very own classroom, spent the next eight years teaching 5th grade in Nevada (CCSD - 5th largest in the nation), and have taught 4th grade the last eleven years at Churchill. Overall, in 21 years in the classroom, I have personally impacted nearly 500 students! Besides teaching, I host a boys’ club (Dude Crew) at Churchill that I started in 2016. My wife is also a veteran teacher (Churchill 5th Grade) and we have daughters that are 9th grade and college students. 

I am so excited to continue to make a difference in children’s lives and I look forward to watching all my students succeed & progress this school year.

Bienvenido a nuestra familia de cuarto grado. ¡Mi nombre es Chris Kovarik y soy tu maestro para este emocionante año escolar! Mi trayectoria como docente es la siguiente… 

Crecí en California y Nevada, trabajé en la industria hotelera durante 7 años y me gradué de la UNLV con un título en negocios. Buscando algo nuevo y significativo, trabajé como maestro sustituto en los grados K-6 durante 2 años, me enamoré de la enseñanza y decidí regresar a la universidad para obtener una maestría en educación primaria. Después de graduarme, finalmente tuve mi propio salón de clases, pasé los siguientes ocho años enseñando quinto grado en Nevada (CCSD, el quinto más grande del país) y he enseñado cuarto grado los últimos once años en Churchill. En general, en 21 años en el aula, ¡he impactado personalmente a casi 500 estudiantes! 

Además de enseñar, dirijo un club para niños (Dude Crew) en Churchill que inicié en 2016. Mi esposa también es una maestra veterana (quinto grado en Churchill) y tenemos hijas que cursan noveno grado y la universidad. 

¡Estoy muy emocionado de continuar marcando la diferencia en la vida de los niños y espero con ansias ver a todos mis estudiantes tener éxito y progresar este año escolar!
