Ms. Danadio's Homepage

My name is Nicole Danadio-Madden and I am one of the Reading Specialists at Churchill School. This is my 11th year teaching in Homewood, and I also attended District 153 growing up. Homewood has always felt like home to me! I received my Bachelors Degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University and my Masters Degree in Reading from Olivet.
I love to read and cannot wait to share my passion with my students. During our time together, my students will work on reading and writing strategies to help us better understand the text. We will discuss and write about our reading while digging deeper to understand.
During my free time you can find me reading, walking my two dogs with my husband hanging out with my family and friends or in the kitchen!
I've missed you Bulldogs, and cannot wait to see you!

How can I practice my reading at home?

Encourage daily reading every day.

Create a Comfortable Reading Environment

Set up a comfortable reading spot in your home and invite your child to come read with you. Read your own books there to model good reading habits.

Incorporate Fast and Fun Reads

Use magazines, newspapers, recipes, TV schedules, and road signs as reading opportunities. Incorporate quick reading whenever and wherever you and your child happen to be.

Read and Ride

Listen to audio books while traveling by car so your child hears modeled fluent reading.

Read and Chat

Discuss the books that your child is reading. Ask questions such as: What was your favorite part? Who were your favorite and least favorite characters? Can you think of another ending?
