Welcome to our 4th grade family! My name is Chris Kovarik, and I am your teacher for this exciting school year. My teaching journey goes like this...

I grew up in California & Nevada, worked in the hotel industry for 7 years, and graduated from UNLV with a business degree. Seeking something new & meaningful, I worked as a substitute in grades K-6 for 2 years, fell in love with teaching, and decided to return to college for a master’s degree in elementary education. After graduation, I earned my very own classroom, spent the next eight years teaching 5th grade in Nevada (CCSD - 5th largest in the nation), and have taught 4th grade the last eight years at Churchill. Overall, in 18 years in the classroom, I have personally impacted nearly 400 students! Besides teaching, I host a boys’ club (Dude Crew) at Churchill that I started in 2016 and oversee my 4th grade team of 8 teachers as their Building Leadership member. My wife is also a veteran teacher (Churchill 5th Grade) and we have daughters that are 7th & 11th grade students. 

I am so excited to continue to make a difference in children’s lives and I look forward to watching all my students succeed & progress this school year!
