About Ms. Garneau
Hello 5th grade families,
Welcome to 5th grade! My name is Ms. Garneau and I am excited to be your child's fifth grade teacher. This is my first year teaching at Winston Churchill Elementary School and it is an honor to work at Homewood District 153.
I am not originally from this area. I grew up in a suburb of Detroit in Michigan known as Rochester. As a child I loved to be outside. I enjoyed catching bugs, playing tag with the neighbors and making crafts. I just recently moved to Illinois and I currently live in downtown Chicago. I live in a skyscraper with my fiance, Alec and my dog. Maya. I am excited to be getting married January 4th, 2020!
I graduated from Michigan State University in 2014 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Elementary Education specializing in integrated science. Go green! The following year I completed my year-long student teaching in Grand Rapids, Michigan in a 5th grade classroom. After that, I taught 4th grade for three years in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Last year I taught 2nd grade in South Shore Chicago. I am excited to teach 5th grade students again! Just recently I received a Master's in Reading and Language Arts from Oakland University. I believe that all children can love reading.
I look forward to getting to know your child over this school year and helping him.her grow into a wonderful student!
